Irish Poker Championship this January. Qualifiers
start from December 1st
We're

tournament will be held from January 2 through 4 in
the magnificent Radisson Hotel Galway, which overlooks
the beautiful Galway Bay.
There'll
be 400 players battling it out in front of the TV
cameras. The stellar line-up will feature many international
pros, including include Ireland's Ciaran O'Leary and
Padraig Parkinson, plus Mike Sexton from the USA and
the UK's Dave 'Devilfish' Ulliot.
Last
year's winner, Jude Ainsworth, took home a cool €180,000
first prize, with everyone taking part enjoying the
atmosphere whether they finished in the money or not.

The tournament will take place from January 2 through
4, 2009 in Galway City, often known as the 'cultural
capital of Ireland'.

PartyPoker
to hold charity event for the homeless - 16th December
2008
Online
gaming firm PartyPoker is sponsoring a tournament
to raise money for the homeless.
The
event will take place on January 4th as part of the
Irish Poker Championship over the new year.
In
the Poker for the Homeless competition, a percentage
of each buy-in goes towards the worthy cause.
Organisations
in Dublin and Galway will be the beneficiaries of
the competition.
Among
the players who will be turning up at the Radisson
SAS in Galway are Marty Smyth, Padraig Parkinson,
Scott Gray, Ciaran O'Leary and Andy Black.
As
well as these local players, there will also be a
number of gamers turning up from across the world,
including Mike Sexton, Kenna James, Dave Ulliot, Claude
Cohen and Leo Margets.
Last
year, the main event in the competition was won by
Jude Ainsworth, who pocketed €180,000 ($246,000)
in prize money when he defeated Michael McCool in
heads-up play.
PartyPoker
recently sponsored the Premier League Three, which
was won by JC Tran.
